I first met Alan almost 40 years ago when Jason and I became friends at Paston VI Form College and I was invited over to the O’Rourke family home in Aylsham. He welcomed me with a warmth and kindness I hadn’t experienced before and which has stayed with me ever since. He had the incredible ability to engage and connect. His sense of humour was second to none and being around Alan left me with a warm glow in my heart. He’s passed some of that Alan super power down to Jason and Kate and their children - a wonderful legacy. He will be sorely missed but remembered with a heartfelt smile
